These devices are one pole protectors that may be ganged together to form a multipole device (4 poles maximum). When ganged together a common trip lever is used between poles. The 1, 2, 3 and 4 following S26 or S28 stands for the number of poles. The letters in the catalogue number following the number of poles stands for the trip curve. The UC in the catalogue number means it has both ac and dc ratings. The last digits stand for the ampere rating.

S260 has a minimum rating of 32A and a maximum rating of 63A.

S260-B has a minimum rating of 6A and a maximum rating of 63A.

S260-C has a minimum rating of 0.5A and a maximum rating of 63A.

S260-D has a minimum rating of 0.5A and a maximum rating of 63A.

Voltage Ratings:

S281 K, Z are rated 277V ac maximum.

S282 K, Z are rated 480V ac maximum.

S273, S263, S264, S283, S274 and S284 K, L, Z, UCK and UCZ are rated 480V ac maxium.

S281 UCK and UCZ are rated 277V ac, 250V dc maximum.

S282, S283, S284 UCK and UCZ are rated 400V ac, 500V dc maximum.

S261 are rated 277V ac, 60V dc.

S262, S263 and S264 are rated 480V ac, 125V dc (two poles in series).

Short Circuit Ratings -

S260 Series followed by D: 6kA/277V ac single pole 6kA/480V, 10kA rms symmetrical 120V ac, 60V dc, one pole, 240V ac, 125V dc multipole.

S280 Series followed by UCK or UCZ: all devices 4.5kA or dc. Devices rated 40A or less 6kA/240V. Devices rated greater than 40A - 5kA/277V ac for single pole 5kA/480V ac for multipole.

S280 Series followed by K or Z: single pole - devices rated 40A, or less - 10kA/277V ac, devices rated greater than 40A - 6kA/277V ac. Multipole: devices rated 32A or less - 10kA/480V ac, devices rated greater than 32A - 6kA, 480V ac.

  1. These devices are intended to be rail mounted and should be mounted in a non-metallic enclosure or in a metallic enclosure having an insulator under the mounting wall.

  6. Types S260 were subjected to Short Circuit Tests with series fuses rated 4 times the ampere rating of the protector. 6kA and 10kA short circuit tests with 277V ac and 480V ac on type S280 were conducted with series fuses rated 4 times the ampere rating of the protector.
  7. The spacings from live parts of single pole devices to adjacent metal surfaces, and from the outside poles of multipole devices to adjacent metal surface shall be evaluated in the end product application.
  8. Temperature Test on S260 was performed in an enclosure approx 157 mm by 59 mm by 68 mm.

These devices are one, two, three and four pole supplementary protectors provided with thermal magnetic trip units. Devices may or may not be provided with auxiliary switches. The 1, 2 or 3 following S26 or S27 stands for the number of poles. Poles with NA suffix have switch neutral pole with no trip.

  6. The spacings from live parts of single pole devices to adjacent metal surfaces, and from the outside poles of multipole devices to adjacent metal surface shall be evaluated in the end product application.
  7. The temperature test for devices suitable for 25C ambient was performed in an enclosure measuring approx 157 mm by 59 mm by 68 mm.
  8. Short circuit tests for 10kA rating were conducted without series protection.

These devices are auxiliary contacts intended for use with this manufacturer's supplementary protectors, S280, S270 and S250. Auxiliary contacts operate off the protector main contact mechanism. The signal contact on the S2-S/H operates off the protector trip mechanism.

  3. The spacings provided between auxiliary switch S2-S/H and adjacent protector is 3 mm through air or over surface. This requires that the auxiliary switch be at the same polarity as the adjacent protector.
  4. The auxiliary switch S2-H is suitable for use with an adjacent protector of opposite polarity.

These accessories are copper buses intended to supply protectors from a single source. Intended only for use with single pole protectors; except SZ-KS intended for use with multi pole protectors.

Ratings:

KS 2/12 and KS 2/56 - 85A end supply (140A when center feed).

PSB3UL and PSB53UL - 40A for 10 mm2 and 63A for 16 mm2 in a 40C ambient. Max voltage 480V.

VB 45.32 - 110A end supply (140A when center feed).

SZ-KS: 40A for 10 mm² and 63A for 16 mm² in a 40C ambient.  Max voltage 600V.

Notes:

  1. The busbar is for use with this manufacturer's supplementary protectors S250, S260, S270 and S280.
  2. PSB3UL, PSB53UL, SZ-KS have spacing of 6.4 mm through air and 9.5 mm over surface.
  3. Short circuit tests have not been conducted.
